For Turkey, the Directorate General of Civil Registration and Nationality explains what a biometric photo must look like — face straight to the camera, neutral expression, plain background, nothing covering the face — on its own page: biyometrik fotoğraf nasıl olmalıdır. What it does not publish is a digital file specification: there is no official pixel count and no official DPI figure. The 300 DPI output and the 32–36 mm head height used here come from common studio and print practice, not from a published digital standard. Treat them as a good default, and check the current requirements of the office you are applying to.
The tool also tells you when your source photo is too small. If cropping to a 50 × 60 mm frame means enlarging your pixels, the “real detail” figure drops below 300 and you will see it — a tool that silently upscales and still writes “300 DPI” on the file is lying to you.
No. Your photo is decoded, cropped and re-encoded entirely inside your browser tab using canvas, and the 300 DPI bytes are written on your device too. Nothing is sent anywhere, nothing is stored, and there is no account. This matters more here than in any other tool, because the file you are working with is your own face.
The widely accepted sizes are 50 x 60 mm in Turkey, 35 x 45 mm for Schengen and the United Kingdom, and 2 x 2 inches (about 51 x 51 mm) in the United States. Head height and eye position vary by country, so the tool draws a crown line, a chin line and an eye line for the size you pick. These are commonly used measurements from studio and application practice, not a digital file specification, so check the current requirements of the office you are applying to.
Both would need a machine-learning model. Running one in the browser means downloading tens of megabytes on every visit, and running it on a server would mean uploading your face, which is exactly what this tool refuses to do. Automatic background removal also fails around hair and glasses in a way that gets photos rejected. So the tool gives you accurate guides and precise cropping instead, and asks you to shoot against a plain light wall.
It is real. The tool writes the JFIF density bytes inside the JPEG itself, with units set to dots per inch and both X and Y density set to 300, so print software and photo kiosks read the file at the correct physical size instead of guessing. A 50 x 60 mm photo comes out as 591 x 709 pixels, which is exactly 300 pixels per inch.
Download the print sheet and take the JPG to any photo kiosk or print shop, or print it at home on 10 x 15 cm photo paper. Choose actual size or 100 percent scaling and turn off fit to page or auto-rotate, otherwise the printer will resize the sheet and the photos will no longer be the right millimetres.
